During a 40-year career she hosted shows across flagship BBC stations including Radio 1 helped launch the careers of artists including Amy Winehouse and covered major music events such as Live Aid. Long who was best known as a presenter on BBC Radio 1 Radio 2 and Top of the Pops died at home on Christmas Day 25 December with her family.

Janice Long best known as a presenter on Radio 1 Radio 2 Top of the Pops and most recently on Radio Wales has died after a short illness at home on Christmas. During a 40-year career which started at BBC Radio Merseyside Janice hosted shows across broadcasters flagship stations including Radio 1 as well as the breakfast show on Greater London Radio and XFM. The former BBC Radio 1 Radio 2 and Top of the Pops presenter died at home on Christmas Day surrounded by her.
